Max Dietrich (James Russo) leads a party of men in search of a missing family member. Upon riding into the town of Yellow Rock, they hire rugged mountain man Tom Hanner (Micheal Biehn) to help guide them safely through the dangerous territory of the Black Paw Indians. Hanner wisely insists they obtain permission from the tribe before crossing their land. To help acquire permission he enlists the aid of Sarah Taylor (Lenore Andriel), a stunningly beautiful female physician, who doctors the Indians in the area. The group receives permission from the tribe, but on the condition they take Broken Wing (Michael Spears) with them.
As the search party treks deep into the heart of Black Paw country they reach an ancient forbidden burial ground. Ignoring Broken Wing's warning of a curse, the party trespasses on sacred ground rather than losing time going around. As events unfold the group is stricken with one of the most infectious and deadly fevers known to mankind - Gold Fever - the desire for Yellow Rock. Their greed driven lust not only puts them at war with the natives, but with each other as well.
